I love working with people in moments of self-doubt and uncertainty, crisis and trauma. I love helping them to rebuild trust in their bodies and themselves. I am an LPC Candidate, which means I'm still working towards my full license, but I have several decades of life experience that I bring to my work with clients.
Clinically, I'm trained in EMDR, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, with additional experience in Narrative Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Internal Family Systems. We'll work as a team in therapy to decide on what tools you need to get to where you want to go.
As for myself, I've spent so much time being uncertain about who I am, and what my place in the world should be.
I have pivoted several times in my career. I have a Masters of Public Health as well as my Masters of Art in International Disaster Psychology.
Currently, I'm working half-time in Disaster Behavioral Health Response and half time as a clinician, supporting people on several different levels, to navigate through moments of precarity, trauma and confusion in their own lives.
I've never felt more fulfilled.
My career isn't the only area where I haven't taken a straight line path. I started dating women in my mid-thirties, so I know what it is to wrestle with questions about your sexuality, and how good it feels when you start to be at peace with the answers.
I spent most of my life living on the East Coast, with some short stints in other countries, before finally moving out to Colorado. I know what it feels like to experience culture shock!
While I'm not an immigrant myself, I particularly love working with immigrants who may be facing their own forms of confusion, and isolation as they adjust to life in the United States. I am bilingual in Spanish and I am comfortable providing therapy to Spanish speaking clients.
I have a lot of experience working with survivors of sexual abuse and domestic violence. I know that this type of abuse can violate your sense of self in the deepest possible way, leading to an overwhelming flood of feelings. I know that, though it can be challenging, re-establishing that connection with yourself and learning to accept every part of who you are, can be a powerful start to healing.
Another area I feel incredibly passionate about is climate change and mental health. In an age of wildfires, droughts, and so many other natural disasters, this is a topic we all have to sit with. Yet, so many of us don't engage with it. It can feel terrifying and hopeless, filling us with despair. If this is an area in which you have been struggling, you don't have to sit in these feelings alone.
