Trauma Informed Therapy Approaches
Trauma Approaches: EMDR, BRAINSPOTTING, & IFS Therapy in Colorado Online
Healing from trauma takes more than one path. Our clinicians integrate EMDR, IFS, DBT, mindfulness, and body-based practices to help you process painful experiences and reconnect with yourself. Whether you’re carrying the weight of past memories, navigating life’s challenges, or simply seeking deeper well-being, we create a safe space for healing at your pace.
What Is EMDR?
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a structured therapy that helps the brain reprocess painful or overwhelming memories so they no longer feel as triggering. It can reduce symptoms of PTSD, anxiety, and depression, while helping you feel calmer and more in control. EMDR doesn’t require reliving every detail of your trauma — instead, it allows your nervous system to safely release old patterns and build new ones.
What Is IFS?
Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy is based on the idea that we all have different “parts” of ourselves — some carrying pain, some protecting us, some guiding us. IFS helps you approach these parts with compassion, creating space for healing and integration. This approach can help with trauma, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, and relationships by reconnecting you with your core sense of Self.
What Is Brainspotting?
Brainspotting is a powerful, body-based trauma therapy that helps you access and process emotions and memories that are often stored beneath conscious awareness. By focusing on specific eye positions — or “brainspots” — that link to deep emotional and somatic experiences, Brainspotting allows the nervous system to release tension, emotion, and trauma in a gentle, organic way.
It’s particularly effective when words feel insufficient or when traditional talk therapy hasn’t reached the root of the pain. Clients often describe Brainspotting as deeply calming, intuitive, and transformative — helping them reconnect with their body’s natural capacity to heal.
What Is IFS-Informed EMDR?
When EMDR and IFS are combined, the result is a deeper, more integrated healing process. EMDR helps reduce the emotional intensity of traumatic memories, while IFS supports the parts of you that carry those experiences. Together, they allow for more lasting change — helping you feel not only relief, but also greater self-connection and resilience.
We also offer extended IFS-EMDR sessions (90–120 minutes) for clients who want more time and depth in their healing process. Learn more here.
