Tiffany Sersen, LSW
"Going to therapy wound up being the thing that saved my life." — Sarah J. Maas.
These words resonate deeply and represent a truth I know firsthand.
My path to this work wasn't linear. Therapy is my second career and an innate calling. I spent years moving fast in the world of ASL interpreting in the Washington, DC metro area until my body forced me to stop. An autoimmune diagnosis demanded I listen in a way I never had before.
What followed wasn't just physical healing; it was a complete reorientation. I had to turn inward and meet the parts of me that had been overlooked for years. The parts carrying overwhelm, perfectionism, grief, and the quiet belief that I had to keep pushing to be enough. The parts that didn't need fixing; they needed to be heard, understood, and cared for.
That process changed everything.
Through deep inner work, intention, and support, I didn't just move into remission; I came into relationship with myself in a way I never had before. Today I'm a formally trained IFS Level One therapist on the certification track, bringing professional training and lived experience to this work. I know what it feels like to be disconnected from yourself. And I know what it takes to find your way back.
I'm here for the people ready to slow down and listen to the parts of themselves that have been waiting to be heard; even if they don't have the words for it yet. Together we create space for clarity, self-trust, and a deeper sense of wholeness.
This work isn't about fixing. It's about coming home to yourself.

I work with people who are done with surface-level conversations and want something that actually moves the needle. Many of my clients have already tried to think their way out of their patterns and found it doesn't stick; because the answers aren't usually at the surface.
I specialize in supporting people navigating anxiety, burnout, chronic illness, perfectionism, and self-worth tied to performance. I have a particular passion for working with people living with autoimmune conditions, understanding firsthand the mental and emotional toll that comes alongside physical illness.
I offer something rare: therapy fully accessible to the Deaf and hard of hearing community. As a nationally certified ASL interpreter with full fluency, I provide direct access to therapy without the burden of translation or the barrier of an interpreter in the room. If you have been waiting for a therapist who truly speaks your language, I am here.
I also work with high achievers and perfectionists who are close to burning out, or already there; senior caregivers navigating invisible labor and grief; and people moving through midlife transitions and identity shifts.
For those who have explored plant medicine or psychedelics and gained meaningful insight but found that those experiences haven't fully translated into lasting change, I offer informed, grounded psychedelic preparation and integration support. I spent over a decade as a co-owner and facilitator of plant medicine healing centers outside of Iquitos, Peru, and I bring that depth of experience to this work with care, respect, and clinical grounding.

I use Internal Family Systems to help you get to know the different parts of yourself; the ones that push, the ones that shut down, the ones working overtime to hold everything together. Not as theory, but as something you can directly experience and work with.
I also draw from Somatic EMDR, yoga, and mindfulness; not as an aesthetic, but as practical tools for interrupting spirals, regulating your nervous system, and getting through the moments when everything feels like too much.
I take this work seriously because I care with my whole heart. Being human is hard. I'm one too.

When I’m not doing therapy, I’m usually:
Curled up with a romance, fantasy, or historical fiction book providing both escapism and potentially some emotional damage.
Dancing or vibing to EDM, country, classic rock… and yes, occasionally a Bach piece makes the playlist.
Out exploring this majestic state… hiking, backpacking, or camping and becoming more outdoorsy than I’ve ever been.
