Amy Moreno MA LPC EMDR-C
Once upon a time, I was a hot mess of a human. At 41, I hit absolute rock bottom — after a brutal divorce, unprocessed grief from my dad’s death at nine, and a PTSD diagnosis that cracked my life wide open. What came next was nothing short of a full-blown reconstruction of my identity. With the help of a few incredible therapists and more grit than I thought possible, I rebuilt myself; piece by piece.
And now I help other women do the same.
I am the founder of Rebuilding Together Counseling, a private practice in Lakewood, Colorado — built not just on theory, but on real-life experience with trauma, grief, self-worth, and rebirth. As a counselor, a certified EMDR therapist, and a woman who has walked through hell, I understand what it is like to fall apart and have to scramble to figure out who you are. It is now my mission to show up as my whole, messy, badass, authentic self — every. damn. day.
I work with women (and fellow therapists!) who are ready to tear down the walls — internal and external — that keep you small. I want you to look in the mirror, throw off the shame, the doubt, the lack of self-esteem and finally shout, “I deserve to be seen. I deserve to be loved. I deserve to take up space.”
That’s not just therapy — that’s a revolution.
What I Do:
I specialize in trauma, grief, self-esteem, and deep empowerment work. My approach weaves together EMDR, DBT, IFS, and other trauma-informed models to help you get to the root — and heal for real. I’m currently earning my certification in IFS-informed EMDR, because the healing never stops, for any of us.
I especially love working with other therapists — because yes, we need support too. This is sacred work, and it’s okay to need someone who understands both sides of the couch.
Who I Work With:
Clinicians navigating their own healing.
Women exploring later-in-life identity shifts, life outside of being a mother, divorce, etc.
Women healing from complex trauma or attachment wounds, childhood trauma, current trauma, etc.
Women wanting how to learn to set boundaries and do the deep-self work.
What I’ve Built:
This isn’t just a practice — it’s a purpose. I went back to grad school at 43, as a single mom, because I had to find a career that was meaningful to me that would also pay the bills. I launched this business in the middle of real life: menopause, parenting pre-teens, supporting a child with an eating disorder, navigating a blended family of five humans and four needy rescue dogs, and learning at age 50 that I have ADHD and my husband and son are autistic. And through it all, I built something powerful — a business that helps change lives, including my own.
My practice is rooted in radical honesty, deep empathy, fierce vulnerability, and a whole lot of swearing. I believe that you can be both falling apart and rising strong — and I’m here for all of it. Come meet me; I am really fucking good at what I do.
Beyond the Therapy Room:
When I’m not holding space for others, I’m probably:
Tending (or neglecting) my 102 houseplants
Designing websites, rearranging furniture, or hunting for a perfect vintage find
Talking openly about menopause, hormone therapy, and all the real stuff no one warns us about
being ridiculous with my husband and our kids
Showing up for my kids, my clients, my community — and myself
